Last weekend I dealt with two Window machines whose 1. Operating System’s were infected with a Trojan, and 2. Boot files that were corrupted.
PC 1 - the symptoms are the notorious ‘look a-like’ windows defender pop up’s.
PC 2 - when booting the system throws a registry error and fails to boot to the Hard Drive (HDD). This report came from the owner of the PC.
In my experience, salvage your data by backing it up. There are two common ways of doing this, might write on it later. Once you have the data you want to keep backed up, begin the restore to original install process.
Many OEM computer manufacturers include disks or a recovery partition. Often times doing a simple restore to earlier point will not be enough for recovering the PC.
This certainly addresses the infected pc’s issue. The user will have to restore all previous software and data. However the other PC was different.
PC 2 would not throw the aforementioned error. I experienced a very slow load rate when booting to safe mode. In every boot attempt it failed to load at all.
Running a scan on the hardware devices produced an error on the Hard Drive.
I googled self test #1-07 FAIL (error code) and came up with this "Rate of seek errors of the magnetic heads. If there is a failure in the mechanical positioning system, a servo damage or a thermal widening of the hard disk, seek errors arise. More seek errors indicates a worsening condition of a disk surface and the mechanical subsystem."

I am able to access the drive from another pc but it throws write errors. This drive is dead. I hope to salvage some, any…
I let the drive shut down for a few days then carefully attempted to recover the data. It took hours but I did get the data. Client purchased a new PC as this was maybe 5 yes old and I restored the data.
When you have PC problems it’s good to record any error messages. Google the code and call a profesional for insight. Companies like Best Buy offer Geek Squad services at a premium rate. Freelance profesionals like myself charge a fraction of their price and deliver the same results often times.
I hope this was good information.
I am currently converting emajen anything to Fix My PC Lex .
thanks for reading.
